FITNESS AND KICKERS HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENT

HISTORY

The club has been in existence for the past 32 years having been established in the first quarter of 1988, with no name given. it started with the founder GM Itua Moses, Master Femi Ajigbon (RIP) and SM Lucky Ogumelen as the first student then.

The Training ground used then was in front of Block 427, Abesan Estate, Ipaja Lagos state.

It was then moved to Car Parked along 5th avenue, Abesan Estate, (currently Ikedia Field).during this time GM Itua Moses travelled out of the country, leaving the control of the dojang to Master Femi Ajigbon who served as head of the dojang until his death.(may his soul rest in peace).

Before the death of Master Femi Ajigbon, Master Adedamola Adeogun join the club as an ex practitioners, He took over the leadership of the dojang after the demise of Master Femi Ajigbon.

Master Adedamola Adeogun observed that it's not good for a club not to have any name attributed to him, they agreed on having ABESAN TAEKWONDO CLUB as the name for the club, Later changed to ABESAN INSTITUTE OF TAEKWONDO.

He also suggested the motto for the club as MINIMUM EFFORT, MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY.

Master Adedamola Adeogun left the club after his official redeployment from Lagos to Abuja, leaving the sole responsibility of leadership both technical and administration to SM Lucky Ogumelen. But he's still one of the Top Management team of the academy. SM Lucky Ogumelen oversee the club to greater height, after which he seems it, sort of respect and honour to change the name to the founders name Itua, thus the club then changed to ITUA TAEKWONDO ACADEMY.

As the new name implies, "academy" the student has been enjoying both technical and theoretical aspect of taekwondo.

The name remained for many years and produced many black belters of higher standards. With the introduction of fitness class, the name then changed to include the newly introduced fitness. it then changed to FITNESS & KICKERS TAEKWONDO ACADEMY, dully registered with CAC with registration number BN2382178

MEET THE CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

MASTER LUCKY OGUMELEN (a.k.a. Best in the World) is a seasoned martial arts instructors with decades of experience in taking kiddies and adult to a higher realm in the arts.

Being a practitioners' in many martial arts, this gives him more knowledge about the arts and thus impacted same onto his students.

He is also a philanthropist both local and nationals toward the development of the arts.He has nurtured many athletes who have excels from representing their respective school in school related competition like National School Sport, Ibile Games, to representing different states and paramilitary organization like Lagos, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Navy, Nigeria Army e.t.c.

Scout, discovered, nurtured and training of young talented athletes for nationals and international recognition and participation through grassroots competition and training.

ACADEMY'S STRENGHT

From its inception 32 years ago, the academy can boast of over 800 students. It has produced more than 150 black belters, most of whom have been dully certified by kukkiwon and other regulated authorities. Most of them are presently club owners, instructors or assistant instructors in many clubs.

Presently, we are the leading host/organizing club in kiddies and youth competitions with the last edition witness over 550 competitors. with a total competition duration of 8 hours.

OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TAEKWONDO IN LAGOS STATE

We are in good cordial relationship with Lagos State Taekwondo Association Headed by vibrant and energetic Chairman, Master Jimmy Ogunnowo.

Our relationship is yielding positive development in the arts within Lagos state.

Our student has represented Lagos state in many competition both junior and adult.

LAGOS UNDER 15, 2013 (2 of our academy represented and won gold for male and femalecategory)
DAWN GAMES 2014 (1 from our academy out of 8)
IBILE GAMES for about 4 editions (averages of 8 per edition from our academy representing their respective schools)
SCHOOL SPORTS Markurdi 2014 (5 from our academy out of 18 athletes)
NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES ILORIN 2018 (2 of our academy female athletes represent Lagos State)
NATIONAL TRIAL 2019.(5 of our academy athletes were at abuja for securing the first slot in their weight categories)
NATIONAL SPORT FESTIVAL 2018 (3 of our academy athletes represent Lagos state at the tourney)
NIGERIA NATIONAL OPEN 2019 (4 of our athletes participated at the open championship)
KAC 2019 (7 of our athletes participate, with 5 representing Lagos State while the remaining 2 registered as independent athletes.)
We can boast of at least 30 have so far registered for GMS in our academy. this shows our commitment to the growth of the arts through implementation and follow the regulation set down by NTF and WT.
Our students in kiddies, cadets, and juniors also participated in different organized grassroots underage competitions in the past years. including the academy's organized kiddies festival tagged HONEYLAND SCHOOLS KIDDIES FESTIVAL which entered its 7th edition last year on November 9th, 2019. We use this level of the championship to mobilize, educate and launch the incoming athletes, for them to gather confidence, and ability and above all increase their experience in the kriorugi aspect of Taekwondo.

Plans are in top gear to commence the adult open championship and we believe with our mutual and positive rapport with both Lagos State Taekwondo Association and the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, the deed is sealed.

For us to be a recognized academy by the National body will take us to global recognition.
With our membership, our students and athletes will gain lots of exposure through attending seminars and calling to camp for selection if they excel.
Opportunity to have our students/athletes affiliated with us during any competition registration or medal presentation. this gives us more joy and appreciation from others instead having their name on "my club is not listed"
We want to use our academy's long years of experience to assist the NTF in achieving its set goals for the federation.
